New books in the month of May

There are lots of books to list. I'm not sure where to start but perhaps with the younger reader is the best place. For our younger male readers, we have a new book by Gary Paulson, titled "Mudshark", and #11 of the Beast Quest series by Adam Blade, "Arachnid the Spider King." And then for the little older group, we have #5 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, "The Last Olympian." Robert Parker has joined the adult fiction authors that have crossed over to writing for young adults with his first Young Spenser novel, "Chasing the Bear."

For those who enjoy reading suspense or action, we have "Marine One" by James Huston, "The Increment" by David Ignatious, and "Pygmy" by Chuck Palahniuk. Kevin J. Anderson has a new book titled "Enemies and Allies" about Batman and Superman for those who love the Super Heroes.

So if you really want to know what that person who is speaking to you is really saying, we have the book for you - "Body Language 101" by Lambert. For the health conscious, we have Dr. Nancy Snyderman's, "Diet myths that keep us fat." For those looking forward to a new member in the family, we have Rikki Lake's new collaboration, "Your best birth." For the young (and old) naturalist, we have "What bluebirds do" by Pamela Kirby. Who doesn't love seeing that flash of brilliant blue as papa bluebird works hard at keeping the family fed? And last but not least we have "Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Crafts" for all the ideas you'll ever need!

If you like reading about people's lives and how they deal with the issues in their lives, we have Elizabeth Edwards' new book, "Resilience", and Christopher Buckley's book on "Losing Mum and Pup." And there is a new biography titled "Paul Newman : A life" by Shawn Levy. There's a wonderful picture of his dad in the book. You'll see which side of the family had those startling blue eyes.

We have the second of the series "Abbess of Meaux Mysteries" by Cassandra Clark, titled "Red Velvet Turnshoe." If you enjoy the Charlaine Harris vampire series, we have the new one - "Dead and Gone." From the best seller list we have Robert Goorick's "A Reliable Wife", "Vision in White" by Nora Roberts and "The secret" by Beverly Lewis. If you enjoy Beverly Lewis' writing we have another author you might want to consider - Ann Tatlock. Her new book is titled "The returning." Another book which is intriguing is "The color of lightning" by Paulette Jiles. It's a story of the late 1800's on the Texas frontier about two families, one headed by a former slave and the other by a Quaker.

So bring the family, stop by and take a look. You never know what adventure lurks between the covers of a book!
