More of Week 5

Wow!!  The fun continued in week 5.................

Local hero Jim Bush read to the kids for our "Hero Read" program.  Jim is such a hero that he wrote his own book for the story time (The Almost Amazing Bernaldo....and his very tricky friends)and handed a copy to each kid who came.  They kids then got to "illustrate" the book themselves!  How wonderful is that!!

Later that afternoon, Dan the Snakeman came to share his love of snakes and other creatures.  Young and old enjoyed them all (sorta).

And on Sunday we welcomed Open Hand Theater and their presentation of "The Secret of the Puppet's Book".  What an amazing show!!  I hope we can have them back to share more of their puppet wizardry with us.

Week 5 of Summer

We have had a busy, fun-filled summer so far this year!  We began with more Tail Waggin' Tutors.  This was Coupar's last week to enjoy the readers, but Macy and Tessa will be back for one more week.

Minecraft Mania is continuing to fill the house

and Phil Klingler was back with his popular Bridge Building.  He's been doing this long enough that little brothers and sisters of the first class are able to build their own bridges!

Congratulations to this week's Adult Summer Reader:  Kristin Kofahl!

And happy kids reading to Coupar!

The Pal-Mac High School Robotics Team visited us on Wednesday to demonstrate this year's creation, whose task was to stack containers.  They are always so gracious in letting the kids drive the robot!  So many smiles!!!

And Thursday, artist Mary Dolan returned to help our kids reinvent themselves as Super Heroes!!! Even our teen volunteers to involved.  What super powers would you want?

Week 3 of Summer

We started out our third week of the Summer Reading Program with more fun with our Tail Waggin' Tutors!

On Tuesday we had a record breaking number of teens, with two teen programs: Make a Graphic Novel with artist Mary Dolan, and our regularly scheduled Teen Time, which included a movie, video games on our new/original Playstation, and henna designs.

Wednesday brought Intermediate School Principal, Marcia Munroe, reading to students, both present and future. And we also had our regular story time which found our kids having fun crafting or reading quietly.

Thursday was another visit from Wildlife Defenders!  They did not disappoint with their selection of animals to educate us about, including a giant toad, giant tortoise, mongoose, opossum, groundhog, porcupine, alligator and a ring-tailed lemur!

And Friday is our Hero Movie: LEGO Batman!

Wow!! Can't believe our program is half over already!!
