Wacky Wednesday Sculptures

I've learned that the kids have the most fun when you give them the idea and the supplies and let their imaginations take it from there.  Here are some fun paper sculptures we made this week:

Bring your historic photographs to be scanned!
We want to document information, gather family stories and increase awareness
 about the photography collection in the Town Historian's office.

Fall Story Time Schedule

Summer may be over, and it won't be long we start up the fun again with our weekly story time schedule!

Starting the week of September 17 we will offer the following:

• Story times for 2-year-olds on Tuesday mornings at 10:10 and 10:40.  Classes are limited to 8 children and parents and/or caregivers should plan on attending as well.

•  For preschoolers, ages 3-5, story times are held on Monday mornings at 10:30 or Tuesday afternoons at 1:30.  It is optional for parents or caregivers to attend, depending on your child's comfort level.  (Therapy dogs frequently attend these story times.)

•  Wacky Wednesdays meets from 4:00 - 5:00 for stories, crafts, and/or movies.  This is an afternoon program for those in kindergarten to 4th grade.

Summer Reading Program

WOW!  The summer reading program is over, and did we Dream Big, Read!
I'm not posting actual numbers, but we are very proud of our kids (and their parents).  We had some families that were in here almost everyday for story times, crafts, movies and special events.  We tried to have something for everyone, and if there are a lot of different age everyones in the family they were here.......a lot.

Our new adult summer reading program was an amazing success.  It turns out, not just kids like to get prizes!  Thanks to all those who participated.

We had wonderful teen volunteers, too.  This is the first time we set up an actual program and schedule (following the advice of Victor Library), and our 12 volunteers were reliable and patient.  They did everything we asked with very little whining!  We couldn't be more grateful.

We were very fortunate to have 4 therapy dogs come in for weekly reading with the kids.  I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids who read or the dogs who listened.  There was lots of loving!  We want to thank Tessa, Henna, Gus and Coupar (and their humans) for giving their time every Wednesday.

In addition to our paid performers and craft people, I want to recognize the people who volunteered their time, energy, and sometimes funds, to help with all the programming.  Thank you, Sue Toomey, Kathy Roberts, Phil Klingler, Olivia LeBrecht, and Judy Buckley.

Our community sponsors were more generous than ever!  A special thanks to the Cowlick, Marks Pizza, Sportworks, Wickham Farms, Shells Pizza, McDonald's, Books Etc., Piazza's and Reliant Community Credit Union.

It was a wonderful, busy, exhausting and fun summer!  Let's do it again next July!

Last Week of Summer

Wow.........only one more week of our Summer Reading Program.  But we still have lots planned.  In addition to our regular weekly story times, we have two special programs.

Just for the Music performed by Bart & Kevin.  This musical duo was the first to perform in this library when we reopened at this location in 2003.  It has been a while, but their renditions of some of the greatest musical hits of yesterday and today will be worth the wait.  This will be fun for all ages!  Join us on Wednesday, August 15 at 2:00 p.m.






Wild Wings will be visiting us on Saturday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m.  This not-for-profit educational organization which cares for permanently injured birds of prey will bring some of these beautiful creatures for us to see and learn about. This presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the Macedon Public Library.
